After the project is finalized, the surface finishing process is performed in a definite order. Before the steps to paint, apply a sealant or smoothing down the surface, the surface is cleaned thoroughly to get rid of all the unwanted stuff. Cleaning the surface is also essential for preserving the quality of coating giving it long-lasting feel. There are two types of techniques used for surface finishing; water blasting Brisbane and sandblasting. Both of these works in their own way and perform their task but it is up to the user to observe which will work better according to their needs. They have similar end results but slightly different benefits.

Water blasting is a method which uses water to clean the surface. Water is blasted out of the nozzle at high pressure which cleans away the debris, dirt and other things coating the surface. This technique only uses water mixed with a little bit of detergent which is safe for the environment and is considered eco-friendly due to the fact it doesn’t release any chemicals in the air.

Although there are some precautions to consider before blasting water. The high pressured water, if concentrated at one place for a long time can cause divots. If the surface is sensitive, use a low-pressure nozzle and vice versa as it comes with many different nozzles sizes and types. As water blasting Brisbane only uses water there is no additional residue left behind. Some advanced water blasters have vacuum technology built it which makes it easy to remove leftover water but it isn’t much of a problem as water can evaporate by itself later on.

On the other hand, sandblasting is a method which uses a pressurized stream of abrasive media minerals (except silica) to prepare the surface to be used. It is normally associated with cleaning the surface of metals but is can be used on other surfaces. Sandblasting can also work as an alternative for sandpaper and chemical paint stripper.

There are two types of sandblasting; wet and dry sandblasting. Wet sandblasting is a mixture of water and minerals converted into high powered steam. It is like a mix of water blasting and sandblasting. This method is mostly used to avoid dust cloud which is the result of dry sandblasting as it is a high pressured mixture of minerals with air. Although this method tends to get messy, this is preferred as it works better.
